Notes from the Creators

>{n0t3}creat.e/0r.5 “Fool music for fools. That’s about right. This was my favorite album I’ve made up until Vol.2. It started as a few of demos, pinned em, came back, cut a few more, pinned em tweaked em, then I forgot about a lot of them for a while. Didn’t plan on making an album. When I moved to Oakland, I was renting out basically a broom closet in a flop house. No hot water, no heat, no stove. No job. The room was big enough for a shelf and a bed on the floor. Just terrible. We called it “The Inferno” because it was like a layer of hell. One night I was sitting, hunched over a candle to keep warm and just manically decided I needed to feel real or something so I sorted through the projects on my computer and compiled an Album. Finished, mixed, polished, artwork and submitted it all that night. I really leaned into the drum sequencing and heavily processed type of thing for the first time with these songs and just tried to keep it fresh and get experimental with it. I think it turned out pretty good. I released it as “Dodgie” but after a while I decided I didn’t need to compartmentalize things so much and retired that project. Once I released Good Free under Turtle Rock, it made more sense to add this one to the catalogue. And so it was.” -Liam
